I go to the supermarket, a lot, but this morning turned into more than just the regular shopping experience. It was a profound eye opener into the social traits of our sea floor neighbour, the crab. Here's the photo I took.
Looking at them, I realized what a remarkable animal they truly are. When I leave home to stay in another town, whether it be in someone else's home or in a hotel, I usually sleep in a room with a certain amount of privacy and comfort, and I thought how different our behavior would be if we found ourselves in the same situation as they were. Could we be placed in a hotel room with several dozen other people we didn't know, scurrying about from underneath the pieces of furniture to climb into the big soaker tub where we poop and pee in the water as we clamber and pinch our way to the top of the human pile of guests...all the while, holding no hard feelings?
Observing how peaceful they were in their tank, I realized we gave the crab the wrong name.
